"Great size and color microwave" 2010-02-04
By B. Collins (Roanoke, VA USA)
This microwave fit perfectly on my counter, and the bisque color matches my fridge, double oven, and dishwasher. Am making adjustments to the increased power (1200 watts) as my previous microwave was only 1000 watts. Having a turntable was important also. I have other Sharp products and none have disappointed me.

"Microwave by Sharp" 2010-02-02
By Janey Mitchell (Duluth, Mn USA)

I have been looking for a compact microwave. This oven ended up being bigger than I wanted (midsize) but had the functions I really wanted. I'm very happy with this unit. Good instructions, love the sensory cooking feature and I would not hesitate to recommend this oven.

"Good micro, weird power usage" 2010-01-10

I'm a basic microwave user - reheating items from the fridge, popcorn, water for tea, the occasional frozen dinner, rarely defrosting. This Sharp R-320HK 1200-Watt 1.2-Cubic-Foot Microwave, Black replaces a smaller Sharp Carousel that lost a lot of power in the last 6 years (tip: don't use metal in microwaves even if it doesn't spark ;).

Things I like:

Price [...]

Light stays on when the door is open (the old one didn't)

Start/minute plus and other quick start buttons

Sensor - can be programmed for more or less time as desired

Size - not too big, not too small

Look - sleek, black

Things I don't like:

Buttons aren't the easiest to read/locate/memorize except for Sensor and Popcorn

Sensor isn't 100% accurate - lots of kernels left even after adding more time

Can't cook a whole bag of popcorn as I could with my low power one without burning the popcorn badly (even trying lower power settings)

Power draw is more than specs and Sharp can't/won't explain why

Loud clang when door closes

I recently bought an amp/watt meter and used it on this microwave. The power it draws is much more than the specs in the manual (max 1880+ watts/15.9 amps vs specs 1680 watts/14.2 amps) and ranges wildly - 1350 to 1870 watts in a minute in the video. I tested my old Sharp Carousel and the wattage fluctuated between 1200 and 1275 only for the same minute plus command. When I contacted Sharp about it they said they can only answer operational questions and suggested I take it to a repair facility (which would keep it a week or so to work on it). I was disappointed they couldn't respond to the question better and told them I'd rather return it to Walmart as defective rather than the trouble of the repair facility.

"Dumb Things Sharp Does" 2009-12-23
By Mike
The unit comes with an advertising blurb glued to the front which is extermely difficult and time consuming ( 1 Hour plus and its not all off) to remove without scratching the surface. It's frustrating that a stupid thing like this mars what otherwise might be an adequate product. I will hesitate before buying another Sharp product.

"Machine ok, Manual SUCKS" 2009-12-16
By S. M. LHEUREUX (New Haven, VT USA)
Tossed a Microwave Popcorn bag in this unit, set it for 2:20, big mistake. A core ball of kernels inside the bag ended as a big black smoking ball! Instructions in the incomprehensible manual talk about reheating Popcorn, and Presets for same, but that is it! Crazy. Somebody dropped the ball on the manual for this unit.
